Description:

Pallet racking systems have traditionally fallen into well developed systems that are refined for various work flow and warehouse operations using conventional lift trucks.  Unfortunately, conventional built racking systems are not built to the tight tolerances required by most automated systems. With the increased use of automation into various aspects of warehouse operations every year, traditional pallet racking systems are not able to accommodate the use of automation, unless designed beforehand with intent to automate in the future? This seminar will review the standard pallet racking and shelving system types as well as highlight strengths, challenges, and smart design considerations in system design to ensure your facility is prepared to successfully incorporate future automation into your infrastructure such as AS/RS, AGV and case handling systems.

Key Takeaways:

  • The key building blocks of a successful storage rack system design
  • Trends and changes in rack system design to successfully incorporate automation
  • Summary of pros and cons of warehouse automation
